Here we go! Another Chalkbucket chat with a very cool Coach, Robbie Kelley of CrossFit Aledo (CFA). It was really cool to do the WOD at CFA and then hang out and chat with Robbie. He’s one of the most down to earth and nicest people you’ll ever meet. If you are anywhere near Aledo, TX, I highly encourage you to visit CrossFit Aledo for a workout. We covered quite a bit of ground in this video discussing the importance of community, how athletes should keep up with their performance, how to build more and more strength, and overall what it’s like running a box of your own as a Box owner. Robbie also mentions something about an “estrogen hour”, you just need to watch.
Please enjoy the video, we’re doing this in order to get to know great coaches, their methodology, and on a mission to help coaches, affiliates, and athletes become better at CrossFit. If you are a coach or affiliate and want to chat with us, come on! Let us know in the comments and we’re happy to get in touch.
Q: What do you rock out to during a WOD?
A: Anything with a loud guitar that makes most peoples ears hurt.
Q: Who is your Fitness Idol or who in the sport do you look up to?
A: I really do not have a CF idol but Matt Chan is who I enjoy following. He did my L1 cert and any dude who can compete in Chuck Taylors at the games is a bad ass.
Q: What do you eat on cheat days?
A: Oh man, cheat days are always good. I would say anything italian and for sure Ice cream.
Q: Who has better abs, you or your wife?
A: Without question my wife has way better abs. I’m not even in the same category as her when it comes to them.
Q: Tell us about CrossFit Aledo?
A: We are not your typical gym. You really need to know that first. You are not just a number and you will always be asked to work hard. In return you will have a support system like no other. You will be coached in an environment that will inspire you and one that will teach you fundamentals with proper form
